Honestly, this is a bit weird to me that I would ever think about writing as a "real" activity. I mean, I never thought that I would be a writer. Yes, I once wrote a journal that lasted only for three or four months. Let's hope that I am serious enough now that I am quite old already to be serious. (By the way, am I allowed to use emoticons here??)
Maybe you wonder why I, out of the blue, decided to start a blog. Well, sometime in the fall quarter of 2011, I was thinking about what I would do after completing my studies in US. I always thought that I would go back to working in a travel agency in Surabaya, but seriously, that somehow scared me (it still does). I know I can do it again; I was good at it. I am just not sure if this certificate from a college in United States would get me a job with decent salary easily. Also, building my own online travel agency needs a lot of hard work and money to start, as in A LOT. I am a hard-worker, but money is something that does not come just in the blink of an eye, isn't it? I need a back-up plan.
I attended an ESLA class, and we had to write some essays. My instructor, David Kehe, was impressed by my writings, so he encouraged me to keep writing. I don't know how he did it, but he did raise my confidence even though writing is new to me. Therefore, I think that I can combine both traveling and writing into travel writing activity. Neat, isn't it?
This is my first attempt to re-train myself in writing, and hopefully, it will be a real travel blog. I am waiting for suggestions from my readers. Thank you!
